After the gap last Monday, we return this week with another “SteelSmash’s Exlusive Interview”, this time, with the English rider, Lloyd Wright… He’s just one of those riders with natural talent for the sport and BMX running through his veins, he’s a street killer and his riding is really on key… We’ve got the chance to make a little interview with him, so we ask him a few questions…
Name: Lloyd Wright
Age: 20
Hometown: Chesham, Buckinghamshire
Sponsors: Kink Bikes, Almond Footwear, Seventies Distro, CSG

SteelSmash: How and when did you start Riding?
Lloyd Wright: I started riding bmx when I was 14.
SS: Do you still remember your first BMX Bike? What about your first BMX Sponsor?
LW: My first bmx bike was a Purple Haze, it was all chrome with pruple stem pedals and 4 massive pegs. haha. My first sponsor was www.streetphire.co.uk, it was an online shop/message board out of Newcastle England run by my good friend H man. I met some really good people through just knowing H and i wouldn’t be where i am today without him.
SS: Impressive street and grind technique, such a smooth and stylish riding, you got it all. Who were your biggest influences in BMX?
LW: Thanks man, The biggest influence in my riding was probably seeing the Voices DVD for the first time, it was the first bmx video i ever saw and i’ve loved street riding ever since. In recent years though my biggest influences have just been the people around me, nothing makes you love riding more than a good time with your friends.
SS: First and last trick that you’ve learned?
LW: Im not sure what the first trick i learned was, probably a one footer or something like that haha. Im not sure what the last thing i learned was, i dont learn tricks much its too much hassle.
SS: How did you become part of the Kink Team?
LW: Well i was on the UK Flow team through seventies and i ended up on the Europe tour and things progressed from there.
SS: How was the experience of being in the Kink House 2011? How long have you been there?
LW: I was there for 88 days, just 2 days shy of the 90 days my visa allowed. It was the best time of my life so far, all the guys from Kink are the best dudes, i can’t thank them enough for letting me come stay at the house for so long.
SS: What’s your best memory from your stay in Kink House?
LW: I can’t pick just one there are so many, the whole 3 months were amazing.
SS: What does your average daily routine consist of these days?
LW: Not much haha, i wake up at about 10 and make a hearty breakfast, then chill on the Internet for a while, checking emails and the like, then go ride for a bit if its dry enough, come home eat dinner and chill, then try go out with some friends to a bar or something. Pretty boring at the moment.
SS: BMX has brought you halfway across the world, but is there still any other country or spot, that you’re never been, you would like to visit/ride?
LW: I really want to go to Austin, Texas. I’ve heard so many good things about that place and i want to experience it for myself.
SS: Everyone has that trick that they just can’t figure out or land. Is there a trick that is nearly impossible for you to land?
LW: X-ups, i feel like im going to pop off the side of my bike every time i try one.
SS: Who are your favorite people to ride with?
LW: Anyone who is up for a chill session.
SS: Upside and downside of being a pro bike rider?
LW: I get to travel and meet new people and a downside… there is no downside.
SS: Other things besides BMX? Tell us something people might not know about you.
LW: Bmx occupies pretty much 100% of my spare time, its my life and i wouldn’t change that for anything. everything i do has something to do with Bmx, haha
SS: What plans do you have for the future? Where should we be expecting to see you pop up?
LW: Hopefully you will see me popping up in California in the winter again.
SS: Thank you so much for this interview, anything you wished to add before we wrap this?
LW: Thank you too all my sponsors that make my life happen, thanks to my parents and thanks to you for giving me this interview.
