Some week’s ago I started to talk with Alfredo Mancuso about an Exclusive Interview for SteelSmash, immediately he accepted and encouraged me to do this type of initiative, i worked on it so that, this Monday here’s the SteelSmash’s Exclusive Interview with no other than Alfredo Mancuso! With such a clean style, ridiculous trick’s (both on Street or Park) and such a good person, He’s undoubtedly one of the most talented riders out there!
Name: Alfredo Mancuso Jr.
Age: 23
Hometown: Los Angeles, CA
Sponsors: Volume Bikes, Demolition Parts, DC Shoes, Function Drinks, and EPICBMX.com
Likes: Fast; rails, women, and cars
Dislikes: Riding slow, injuries
Years Riding: 10
SteelSmash: How and when did you start Riding?
Alfredo Mancuso: I started riding when I was 14. I saw the X-games on TV and was hooked after watching Mirra kick ass!
SS: Do you still remember of your first BMX Bike? What about your first BMX Sponsor?
AM: Yea, my first official BMX bike was a Blue Haro Backtrail X2 Ryan Nyquist Signature. My first sponsor was this company called Axxis BIkes, which was formally Dirt Master, which was Gary Turners (GT Owner and Creators) company.
SS: Amazing style, hot park tricks and even some rad street lines, you got it all. Who were (are) your biggest influences in BMX?
AM: You sure you talking about me? haha Kidding, thanks though your too kind! The people I looked up to when I first started riding were and still are, Van Homan, Edwin Delarosa, Mirra, Bohan, and now-a-days, everyone on Volume, and Demolition!
SS: What was the very first trick you’ve learned? What about the last trick?
AM: First real trick was a flat ground 180. The last trick I learned is hard 360′s out of grinds.
SS: How did you become part of the Demolition/Volume team?
AM: Since the start its been an honor and a privilege to be part of such a legendary team, and awesome company. I can’t thank Anthony “Boy” Flores, and Manuel “E-man” Cantero enough for introducing and vouching for me! Heavy in the streets!
SS: What’s the story behind your appearance on Ellen show?
AM: Rumor has it that Ellen wanted to become straight again and…..haha kidding again. My friend Fat, asked me if I wanted to potentially be on a talk-show, and I’m always up for anything, so a few phone calls and some sly talking and I was on national television.

SS: How’s going the filming for Demolition – Last Chance DVD? How hard have you been getting clips?
AM: The filming for the Demolition DVD has had its ups and downs. The trips, and the hype have been awesome! The injuries, on the other hand are not. At the moment I sprained my ankle filming for my banger. Hopefully I get to get it done tomorrow, or the following day.
SS: Besides BMX you seem love sport cars too. Where that came from?
AM: My family has always been car enthusiasts, and mechanics. At an early age my brother and I became hooked with the German automobile world and haven’t looked back since! Actually my younger brother Johnny works for BMW/ Mini now, so I get discounted or free service on my BMW M3!
SS: What’s the best part about where you live?
AM: The BABES and the WEATHER! Without a doubt. The riding scene, spots, and companies are also a perk.
SS: What country or spot, that you’ve never been, would you like to ride this year?
AM: Without a doubt SPAIN! It looks amazing! Someone hook a brother up!
SS: What does your average daily routine consist of these days?
AM: Wake up, go to school in the morning. Then call up one of the dudes from the crew and try to film at least one clip then chill hard!
SS: You still go to school full time. How’s going the studies? And how do you manage the riding (filming, contests…) and the school?
AM: I sure do. I’m entering my last 2 semesters for my International Business Degree at the University of Fullerton. Honestly it gets really tough when I have deadlines for riding, along with exams or projects. For instance, in a few months we’re going on a 3 week long DC trip, but I will be missing the first 4 days due to Final Examination. The worst part is that we were going to go watch Dave Mirra race rally cars, and maybe even do a ride-along with him. DAMNT IT! haha
SS: Everyone has that trick that they just can’t figure out or land. Is there a trick that is nearly impossible for you to land?
AM: Geeezzee I love the way nosewheelies look, but I can never get them consistent! One day!!
SS: Other things besides BMX? Tell us something people might not know about you.
AM: Hadn’t it not been for BMX, and later on blowing my knee out, I would’ve probably received a scholarship to a University for playing soccer. Its alright though, BMX is much more fun!
SS: If you could load up a Van with riders to ride with, who would you bring and where would you go?
AM: Ohhh hard choice! Definitely all the dudes from Volume, Demolition, and DC! I’ve spent quite a few time with all of them on the road the last few couple of years and they’re always a blast. Most likely Australia, or Europe. The riding and partying would be out of hand!
SS: What plans do you have for 2011? Where should we be expecting to see you pop up?
AM: I plan to film more, and harder than before! I plan to tour with DC through the West and East coasts of the U.S. and maybe even Japan! Also look out for my signature handlebars from Volume, The Cougar Bars!!
SS: Thank you so much for this opportunity, anything you wished to add before we wrap this?
AM: No, no, Thank YOU for this opportunity. The honor and privilege are all mine! First and foremost i’d like to thank anyone who took the time to read this! On my end I’d like to thank the Lord, my family for their support, my girl Emily for putting up with me, and everyone I ride with! A special thanks goes to Brian Castillo and everyone at 180 Distribution for all their support! Mike Aland for being the kingpin and G at DC Shoes, Joey at Function Drinks, Phu and the guys at Epic and you for hooking up the interview! Thanks to anyone I forgot, much love!
In name of SteelSmash, i would to like thank Alfredo Mancuso for making this Interview possible and all the value he gave us!
